I realise this thread is now very, very old, but thank you so, so much for translating and posting this.
I just read that "infamous scene" in PoGS, and yes, it is extremely beneficial to my sanity to see the evidence behind it. (One of the first things to wind me up about PoGS was that snitty I-know-and-you-dont "anything that seems unlikley is probably true" cliche dressed up as profundity in the preface. For me, that rather set the tone.)
Anyhow, you probably don't want to wake up to a rant with your cornflakes, but I am really indebted to you and everyone else who has translated source texts. You make me really happy.
Also, I know everybody else has said it, but Babet and Robespierre are painfully sweet as adopted big brother and sister.
