You could ask me if you have any questions about Élisabeth--or any of the Duplays--since I know pretty close to everything there is to know about them, I would say (well, everything that's been published, that is). Just out of curiosity, what was the "horribly saccharine biography"? It is very interesting to read memoirs like this for just that reason: it tells one more about how they really lived. It is a pity Élisabeth doesn't go into more depth, but of course one has to consider her audience. She actually wrote these memoirs for her son and I don't think she realized that they would ever be published.
