Great discussion. Just a remark. Now many historians seem to attribute to totalitarian or "proto-totalitarian" regimes the invention of things that despotic monarchies and aristocratic republics practiced for millenia. The statue-smashing is historically proven to have existed in Ancient Egypt and many other places. Nihil novum....
