Very trivial, this, but I've just been watching the repeats of the 'John Adams' minseries (HBO) and the 18thc wigs in it are far-and-away the best I've seen. I'm pissed off by the number of French Revolution dramas, films, etc. where the wigs look like they're made of the sort of white nylon favoured by department store santas: in 'John Adams', the actors actually have wigs that don't make you laugh every time you see them! The Carolina deputy Rutledge in episode Two is wearing a crimped wig, which looks very like the sort Robespierre is shown wearing in that early portrait of him in his black suit. Anyway, nice to see it done properly for a change!
