MARAT MONDAYS?!

 I EASILY could too! But before that, here's an a thing, I feel SO BAD for being negligent of this com, I love it so, so much, just school has been BLAH and art students requesting history books from other universities is unheard of before hand here so it was quite difficult, haha.

BUT, let's shove that aside and get to the point, shall we? Basically, studying Marat is NOT an easy feat, because first you have to developpe the hability to tell what's garbage and what isn't in the books - NOT easy.

BUT, since I know first hand how finding information on Marat is hard, and since I got my grummy paws on my Marat folder when I recently went home, I want to offer you guys this ;

Do any you have any particular questions on Marat? Ask away! I will back up with what I answer with citations and such~

BUT, I before hand, I will leave you with this little gem of a story from Marat himself from his childhood! :D

I never pouted; I wasn't obstinate; I didn't play the usual children's games. I was diligent and easy-going. My teachers could get me to do anything they wanted just by being kind to me. I was was only punished once, and my resentement at being unjustly humiliated was so overpowering that I refused to return to that teacher again. I went on a hunger strike for two days. I was eleven years old then, and as you see, I had already become very strong-willed. Since my parents couldn't make me give in, they felt that I was challenging their authority, so I was confined to a locked room. Boiling over with indignation, I managed to get a window open and jumped down to the street. Fortunately, the window wasn't very high, but it was still high enough that I was rather severely wounded in the fall. I still have a scar on my forehead from that mishap. Those frivolous fellows who now reproach me for being headstrong will see that I got that way at an early age.

This snipet was taken from Dr.Connor's book Jean-Paul Marat :D (p.10)

(ps. I have no idea how to tag this ^^;

Oooh, thanks for doing this. =D Should be quite informative.

Young!Marat kind of sounds like Young!Me, interestingly. O.o; Except my defiance never assumed the form of anything as exciting as hunger strikes or jumping from windows. XD

I don't really have a specific question at the moment...although I would be interested in finding out more about Marat's early life in general. I love knowing things like that. =D

I don't have any questions at the moment, but that story is strangely endearing.

I'm reading Claude Manceron's Lives of the French Revolution (or whatever it's called) series and Brissot and Marat's pre-revolutionary friendship comes up fairly often. I didn't know about this! (Also, not quite as bad as Robespierre and Camille, but still *ouch*) Tell me more, please.

Oh as a note for tagging, when you first write the post (you could probably go back and edit too) there's a place at the bottom the lists tags and you just write "Marat, etc, etc"

All right! I like the concept of MaratMondays. [Better than "Whip It Out Wednesdays" from the old Opie and Anthony radio show.]
