Excellent! Thank you for the information. I've never come across it in the general Rev histories (just checking an index here - no....!), so I've just googled it from your tip: it says there's a French expression derived from the event, 'baiser-Lamourette', meaning 'insincere or ephemeral reconciliation', though the examples of use I've just come across seem to be 19thc. Do you know if it's still in use in the 21stC?
(I've got to say, some of them look pretty sincere to me...!)
