BBC2's "The Supersizers Go..." upcoming series is going to do an episode on food in the French Revolution. Well, I presume they enjoyed the Regency gear so much last series that Giles Coren is desperate to get into tight trousers again (the two presenters dress up in various period gear and live the food-lifestyle for a week, then have their poo tested (oh, yes) to see how unhealthy or otherwise it makes them - yes, it's copied off that 'Supersize Me'film, but it's generally pretty entertaining, even though I loathe Master Coren. Wew, sometimes I wish I'd live in the UK simply to watch all that period themed stuff on TV. This show sounds fun! Television programs containing period garb are pure rubbish here in Germany!

It's a good series - I wrote to the BBC a few months ago to ask if they were bringing it out on DVD but they didn't know! I've just found the the 'Regency'one on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1w-6aLlATQ&feature=related
there may be more episodes on youtube, too (god, I love youtube!) - the Elizabethan one had some great costumes...I love the episodes were they have to eat boiled cow head and other horrors.

I presume it'll be on in spring sometime, but hopefully someone will put it up on Youtube (I can't work out how to do it - I think it's beyond the abilities of my ancient Mac): if you're in Britain at the time you'll be able to watch it online for 7 days, too (because of the licence fee, this isn't available online outside Britain, which is a pain, because there has been some good stuff - specially costume drama - recently!) Hopefully the Regency prog that's on youtube has the Prince Regent's breakfast bit - god, no wonder he was huge! Makes you feel ill just thinking about it.
