Aux armes, citoyens !

Just a reminder to grab your pistolets and jump on the nearest piece of furniture in honor of our man of the hour Camille, who, on July 12, 1789, overcame his (adorable) st-st-stutter to get us all hot, bothered, and ready to wreak some serious havoc on royal property.

I give you a favorite scene from Carlyle :

But see Camille Desmoulins, from the Café de Foy, rushing out, sibylline in face ; his hair streaming, in each hand a pistol! He springs to a table : the Police satellites are eyeing him ; alive they shall not take him, not they alive him alive. This time he speaks without stammering :—Friends ! shall we die like hunted hares ? Like sheep hounded into their pinfold ; bleating for mercy, where is no mercy, but only a whetted knife ? The hour is come ; the supreme hour of Frenchman and Man; when Oppressors are to try conclusions with Oppressed ; and the word is, swift Death, or Deliverance forever. Let such hour be well-come! Us, meseems, one cry only befits : To Arms ! Let universal Paris, universal France, as with the throat of the whirlwind, sound only : To arms !— "To arms !"

Bravo Camille!

Wishing everyone a fantastic holiday!

Hello! How are all of you? I hope you're all well.

So... have any ideas for celebrating 14 July?

14 Juillet

HAPPY BASTILLE DAY, EVERYONE!

Wear your tricolor cockade, rock out to some revolutionary music, and ramble on to at least one random person about the beauty of the French Revolution. :D

Monthly Discussion Point: Bastille Day and the Beginnings of the Revolution

This month's discussion point is Bastille Day and the Beginnings of the Revolution.

Up for discussion are both the day itself, and everything leading up to it that probably helped to cause the revolution. Social reasons, political reasons, economic reasons - everything.

...Um, have fun? XD; And sorry this is a day late; I completely spaced if off yesterday!

Down with the tyrants

Aujourd'hui nous sommes le 14 juillet!!!! Le jour de la Bastille. La Fête Nationale en France!!! *fêtez, fêtez* *dansez, dansez*

Vive la France et Vive la République!!

Allons enfants de la Patrie
Le jour de gloire est arrivé !
Contre nous de la tyrannie
L'étendard sanglant est levé
Entendez-vous dans nos campagnes
Mugir ces féroces soldats?
Ils viennent jusque dans vos bras.
Égorger vos fils, vos compagnes!

Aux armes citoyens
Formez vos bataillons
Marchons, marchons
Qu'un sang impur
Abreuve nos sillons
