Picspam: Weekend & Paper Dolls

Salut,

Today's picspam is a double feature. I took screen shots of Saint-Just from Goddard's film Week End and scanned a few pages of The French Revolution: Paper dolls to cut out.

Le Weekend

I'm not going to review Week End because it's a Goddard, and I'll leave it at that. In my opinion, it's one of the best worst films of all time. I hated watching it, but I loved the wierd taste it left in my brain afterwards.

Saint-Just 07

Now on the the paper doll book of Revolutionary cuteness! I would've scanned the whole thing, but the book is wider than my scanner and it was a royal pain in the ass to even scan these. Click the thumbnails to enlarge.

Hey, I agree: Marat is absolutely adorable there. I am so impressed. A Marat drawn prettily with pink-blushed cheeks. :O

I just love how he's reading a speech from a book with his face on it. It's just... awesome. XD! I wonder which speech it was though.

I'm curious about that movie... is it a sort of movie bashing French bourgeois nonsense?

Woah. That speech sounds nice........... it changed a lot since your time, eh S-J? -_-;

That sounds like such a beautifully cynical film. >.>

Aw, those revolutionary paper dolls are adorable. <3 Too bad it didn't come with a Make-Your-Very-Own-Guillotine kit.

Oh yeah! There's a paper doll of Manon Roland^^. This made my day, or at least "unmade" the shitty mood Schama recently put me in, popping up in my tv without any warning.

Yeah, pretty much. And Sunday drivers. But everyone, even the anarchists group, is shown in a ridiculous light.

Yesss. I love ridiculous films, and this is promising.

Eeeeeeeh, those dolls are sweetness. :3

The clip of that Saint-Just scene is actually up on Youtube, I think.
