If you could interview one person involved in the French Revolution, who would it be? What questions would you ask?

On an utterly unrelated note, I got a fish not too long ago. I have named him Marat. :D

Robespierre. I just want to know what was going on inside that head of his.

*lol* you are hilarious.

Um I would interview Robespierre, not too surprisenley. But then again I think I would know what he might say. So maybe Camille (sp?) instead.

Well, I should think that would depend on whether or not I could guarantee that they would answer my questions.

None of the Robespierristes would lie, but I doubt they would speak of much but official policy with a strange foreigner.

On the other hand, I wouldn't trust the Dantonistes not to lie, and there's nothing I want to know about the Girondins.

So I might ask something of Robespierre or Saint-Just, but I doubt they would reply if it were anything of an at all personal nature.

Robespierre, hands down, I think.

If you "really" want to ask a question, try www.dialogus2.org (at the very least it's lots of fun). Robespierre and Saint-Just are both there. However, the site is very authentic in following exactly the principles outlined by Estellacat above. Mostly they answer questions citing the "official rhetoric", and with anything personal they are cordial but dismissive. Whoever is writing on their behalf (I don't believe in ghosts on the web - sorry), knows them pretty well.

My pleasure. Yeah - I think it's great fun. If someone were feeling particularly ambitious, they should impersonate Camille. I think I'd most like to interview him. Razor sharp wit, astonishing eloquence, and I think he could be convinced to bare all given that at this point there would be no consequences to no-holds-barred honesty. I am sure he'd have some juicy stories about all his pals.

Saint-Just. "OK seriously, what colour was your hair really?" Although that would hopefully be quite obvious just looking at him.

I'd like to talk to Camille, just for a general chat about stuff.
