Has anyone tried this, or know how/if it works? http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/33264&mode=feedback (that should be a link to a thingyo download that converts your computer dates to the republican calendar. If it doesn't, google 'salut et fraternite' without the é and versions should come up. Unless it's a cunning right wing plot to crash the computers of lefties!). I'll give it a go when I've upgraded my computer to OSX bigger cat than wot I've got. And then reply to the sodding royalist who has already left a comment on the site.

Mac user high five! I'll look into that soon; although then I'd feel depressed, like it defeats the purpose of the calendar I spent hours working on to put on my wall...

Aww. Well, I didn't see a lot of them at home (except of course for my family which has maybe a few too many!) so it's odd to suddenly be surrounded in the university library. Hm. But anyway, yes, I used the wikipedia calendar as a base for the one on my wall, I just put painstaking effort into making it pretty... sigh. But I was quite excited when that appeared, it's useful.

Alas, I have a Windows and, in spite of all the conversions I have learned for sciences classes, I have yet to be able to convert between the republican calendar and the regular calendar...but then again, if it converts all the dates on my computer to republican dates, that would probably leave me more confused than I am now.
I think I'll just revert back to my plan of making a list of important histoical events with the georgan and the republican dates listed side by side.

Woe, it doesn't actually convert dates on your computer, it's just a program that does the conversion, which I can't see myself remembering to use very often. I think it's most interesting for the florid explanations it comes with about what the Republican calendar is and why we should use it. But there is a dashboard widget here (http://prairial.free.fr/telechargement.php) which I'm kind of liking. :D
