cake! shoes! puppies! that damn marie antoinette movie
Ok. So I went to see that Marie Antoinette movie. On the one hand I liked it because of the awesome costuming [hot guys in wigs & capri pants!], but on the other hand it blew. The movie had a lot of pointless scenes and progressed in an almost painfully slow manner, which is a total shame since Mizz Sophia "I'mNotAsGoodAsMyDaddyButOMG!MarcJacobsIsAmazing" Coppola had unprecendented access to Versailles. I still have every intention of buying this crap on DVD, but the whole movie came across as an overbudget overglorified senior year student film with subliminal "Come Visit France! Strap on Your Pannier & Tour Versailles!" messages.
I'm not going to even get started on how the Revolution was completely glossed over. I don't remember if Necker was even portrayed in it.
What's everyone else's opinions/rants?

So, Marie-Antoinette.
What can I say about this movie. Honnestly. I don't know. I was enchanted, I must confess. But those who have known me for a while, know I had SUCH a weakness for period clothing, hair, and VERSAILLE. I confess, I've been in LOVE with it ever since I step foot in that marvelous palace.
but I DO have a few comments, I had more, but writting in the dark is VERY HARD
- unneccesary amount of pink. Really. Marie-Antoinette never wore that much fucking pink.
- I take back whatever I said about the man playing Louis XVI not being a good choice, he was SO LOUIX XVI it was RIDICULOUS!
- I COULD SPOT DUBARRY FROM A MILE FUCKING AWAY. what a hoe.
- this movie did bring light to my EVER so lasting statement about Marie-Antoinette - WRONG. PERSON. FOR. THE. JOB. The revolution was when she got FIRED.
- they repainted one of her famous painting with Dunst's face - made her look like a cheap slut
- when we first see Louis XVI he has a tricolored cockade on his hat - I'm a TAD confused here.
- the scene where Joseph has to tell Louis how to sleep with his sister was PRICELESS
- They rarely mention the political situation in Paris, so, when the October Days roll around, people where VERY fucking lost to why they wanted her head so badly. because the socio-political side was completly ignored, people left the theaters wondering what the fuck is going on, I know a friend of mine, who saw it at the same time as I, ran up to me with THOUSANDS of questions
- Hans Axel Von Fersan was hot. 'nuff said. I have eyes, and they liked what they saw :3
And like you mentionned, the pace was really slow then HORRIBLY FAST-FOWARD!!
