In the news all week here has been the sale of two Titians by some aristo which the British taxpayer is - it seems - going to have to buy off him for the 'bargain' price of £100 million. This has, however, given the chance for people to raise the point about the source of the aristo's wealth - the Highland Clearances (not that pointing this out is going to make the tiniest bit of difference...). Oh wow, only £100 million? How generous of him!

Random fact: Some of David Tennant's ancestors were forced to move to Glasgow looking for work after being turned out of their homes during the Highland Clearances. Ooooh, the things one learns from Who Do You Think You Are.

Oh, and there's all sorts of weird tax loopholes they use, too, like saying an antique table is 'open to the public' but not actually telling the public - and don't get me started on the EU agriculture grants they cream off!
