This may already be out there on the internet somewhere, but I couldn't find anything before I went to visit myself last summer. I ended up asking someone at Père Lachaise, and after a lot of grumbling/drilling me on who this person was and why I cared/generally making it out to be an impossible task, he produced these very specific directions and helpfully drew it in on the map for me. It was very endearing, very French. So, I thought I ought to post it (I meant to do it months ago! sorry) in case it could be of use to anyone else!

(It may be sort of hard to see, if anyone wants the larger version just let me know.)

The written directions: it's in the third row of the 34th division, the twelfth tombstone in.

Best wishes and happy ancien régime new year to all of you!

Thank you! When I get over my pathetic fear of flying/channel tunnels I'll use this...

Huh, I'm going over there tomorrow. I already know where her grave is, but thanks to the help of a random old dude who seems to hang out in Père Lachaise for fun and gives directions to wandering Americans. It is obscure, isn't it? A further heads up to anyone else using this, you have to go down this little staircase into a kind of lowered area separated from the other graves, so watch for that.

I would add that the best way to get there is just to skirt the wall, because it's right next to it. Also, it's really easy to get there from the mur des fédérés (which is a lot easier to find), if you're coming from that direction.

Many thanks for these directions. I won't go to Paris by now, I think...However, if I manage to go one time or another ,this is one of the first sites I should visit. Call me creepy, but I'm crazy about cemeteries.
